I need someone that’ll help me think of someone besides myself.

"This is my final thought here: I love the lack of pretense at work in a lot of these books and in this online culture, because I really hate pretense and literary pretense. I’m so bored by it. It’s awful. I’m bored by “pretty language” and books that seem to conform to a stock, bourgeois sensibility. I don’t know how to put it, but you know what I’m saying? And I think there’s a big part of me that’s a sucker for the avant-garde. I like to know where the experiments are happening, and if that means I have somebody on here as a guest who’s a “mistake”… fine! I’d rather take that risk. I like that bleeding edge, and that’s where I feel most naturally drawn to creatively, increasingly. And I especially like it when people seem to be having fun making books and making art. They’re making it because they love to do it. It’s fun. There’s joy in it. They’re also doing it because they really have something they need to say."
